Bird Bath

A Bird Bath is a tool used by bird fanciers willing to make their yards an attraction to birds, and it can serve as a good addition to the traditional bird-fancier’s kit, which includes bird houses and bird feeders. Bird Baths are helpful in making your birds’ lives safe and easy. There are lots of Bird Bath types available on the market and varying in size, composition and price.

Usually, a Bird Bath is a shallow water basin elevated on a pedestal, which is usually structured in such a way as to exclude access by predators. Bird Baths are designated for birds to take water baths or drink. A Bird bath can be a salvation for birds during draughts and may attract many bird species.

Bird Baths can be made of various materials and concrete is the most common one. Most Bird Baths are made up of two basic components: the pedestal and the bowl. The pedestal is about 1 meter high, and the bowl is placed on top of it. Concrete Bird Baths may feature various decorative elements. Besides concrete, Bird Bath makers also use other materials, such as glass, plastic, metal, or any other weather-proof and durable material. There are also advanced Bird Bath models featuring attached pumping systems and water supply connection.

If you would like to purchase a Bird Bath to attract birds to your area, you must bear in mind the following things. Bird Baths should be placed safely away from cats, dogs or other predators. It is recommended to put them near tree limbs, so that a bird can fly up on it if attacked. The size of the bowl depends on the type of birds you are ready to deal in, and the height of the pedestal is determined by the size and amount of predators frequenting your area.

The Bird Bath is a high maintenance item, as it requires regular cleaning and constant water supply. It is absolutely imperative that there is always fresh water in the bowl. Dirty or contaminated water may trigger infections and hence cause damage to birds instead of health and comfort. Bowls should not be too deep, because otherwise birds may get drowned. Some birds do not dare approach deep water and therefore may steer clear of the bath. Anyway, if you have already obtained a good bird feeder and bird house and have succeeded in attracting birds to your yard, finding a suitable Bird bath will not pose much difficulty for you.
