One of the most widely spread species is the common canary (serinus canarius) that is related to finches native to the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa and under the rule of Spain and Portugal. Americans made these species pets in the 1400s.

Flying Bird Picture -
pictures, breeders
These species were originally of grayish green color with only a little of yellow on their breasts. They look more like sparrows than what we now see in canaries. The songs of the males also attracted people’s attention and that has led to the development of numerous breeds of canaries of late. Flying birds are everywhere if you look around; it's difficult to get a good picture of them in the air; photos look best when they're perched.
