These species feed mainly on insects and fruit and have got bright plumage and long tail. These species are usually polygamous; thus during the mating season the male shows full expression of its colorful plumage to attract the female. The male's courtship ritual usually includes fluffing out its feathers, prancing, and bowing. A bird of paradise plant photo and photos of other species may be obtained at zoos.
